Africa For A Weekend 1: Kenya🇰🇪

April 11, 2023

I went to Africa For A Weekend, and now I'm back in London.

What did I learn?

I learned that going to Africa For A Weekend is crazy.

I spoke to people about this from the City of London🇬🇧 all the way through to the urban areas in Mombasa, Kenya🇰🇪.

And the idea was universally crazy, to everyone, everywhere!

But... people still kinda' liked it 👀. They instantly became curious.

It's often the crazy ideas with the most potential.

Also...

📊 I learned about new investment opportunities. Like a cool tech startup a new Kenyan friend of mine started (who also managed to raise some significant pre-seed investment in a metter of weeks! #motivation)

🫂 I made new connections and met a lot of cool people that I wouldn't have otherwise. Like my crazy but fun Airbnb host who was like my bestfriend, during my weekend in Diani beach.

🌍 I explored new breath-taking locations in a short time, expanding my horizons. Like Mombasa, and Diani Beach.

🧠 I gained lots of insights, about life, society, government, and the future! (Ultimately Kenya, and other similar African countries are FULL of opportunity, but you must develop a keen eye to identify them, but they exist in abundance!)

Overall, this trip made me more climate-aware ♻️, and for the first time, I've gained an interested in buying carbon credits to offset the carbon emissions from my flights (and everything else I do) - and you should do!

Besides the obvious downsides of frequent flying, I'd say that it was a very worthwhile experience.

Summary:

In Episode 1, I went to Kenya🇰🇪 and I:

1️⃣ Had fun in Nairobi and Diani (near Mombasa).

2️⃣ Analysed business opportunities.

3️⃣ Made new connections (that I was able to use to hire a video editor and software developer based in Kenya)
