Africa For A Weekend 2: UgandaπΊπ¬
May 20, 2023
The second exciting episode of "Africa For A Weekend" is complete!
We went to Uganda... But it wasn't just any trip β it was a dream that had been in the making for three years.
The dream was simple: to explore Uganda with two special brothers. I initially conceived of this dream in 2020, during my year-long stay in Uganda, the desire to have my brothers join my adventure was strong. Unfortunately, due to The Pandemic, it was not possible, so we put it on hold for 3 years...
But it was worth it!
3 years later, with excitement and passports in hand, Episode 2 of Africa For A Weekend kicked off a thrilling journey. From the United Kingdom π¬π§ and Germany π©πͺ, we were finally on our way to Uganda πΊπ¬.
These were a few highlights of the trip:
1οΈβ£ TV Spotlight: I got interviewed by a Ugandan TV station (Smart 24 TV) talking about Software Engineering and the Ugandan tech startup ecosystem.
2οΈβ£ Heartwarming Welcome: The Founders Lounge Uganda community, with over 300 members, gave us a warm welcome. Our meetup was even captured by the TV station (Smart 24 TV), showing how coming together can create something wonderful.
3οΈβ£ Stronger Bonds: The most important achievement was spending quality time with my brothers. In just one week, we learned more about each other than we had in 25 years of existing together. It was a week that brought us closer and made us realize how important family is.
However despite these big highlights, one thing I'm extremely proud to say is that both my brothers stated that this trip greatly exceeded their expectations, made them fall in love with Uganda and they now see themselves coming back regularly... and possibly permanently! π
With this alone, I can say that the trip was a massive success.
Once you experience what's out there in Africa, you won't come back the same!!
Overall, as Episode 2 came to a close, we saw that travel was more than just going places β it was about making dreams real, connecting with family, and discovering new passions. Our time in Uganda wasn't just a vacation; it was a chance to grow closer, make new friends, and experience the magic of Africa. π₯ππ
